tears on my pillow australian nurses in vietnam
narelle biederman
Tears On My Pillow tells the story of the 43 Australian Army nursing sisters who were sent to Vietnam between 1967 and November 1971on tours of up to twelve months. Much of this time was spent in hospitals in the war zone, and with little preparation other a few wise words for what they would encounter.
Under their care were men directly from the battlefields where they had sustained horrendous injuries who needed emergency care from inexperienced nurses in understaffed and poorly equipped hospitals. Biedermann relates her account using information collected from the nurses and men they operated upon.
