shockwave an Australian combat helicopter crew in Vietnam
peter haran Shockwave is the account of the pilots and crews who flew the Iroquois helicopters during the Vietnam War. It revolves around the experiences and memories of three pilots in particular who supported the men in the jungles and mountains, and who ran great risks to supply and evacuate, Norm Goodall, John Scott and Neville Sinkinson. The helicopters Gunships callsigned Bushranger were 'heavy-duty airbourne weapons platforms, armed to the teeth with machine guns rockets and mini-guns'. The Iroquios, on the other hand, were suitable for the conveyance of troops to hot zones and for constant ammunition supplies. Dustoffs, as they were known, were an integral part of the role played by the helicopter crews and pilots in Vietnam and these three Australians played a vital role in those operations. 220 pp - Paperback - Published 2004
