The men who served at Quinn's Post described it as 'the deadliest position on the peninsula', 'perhaps the scene of the most terrible struggle in all history'', where 'a day in hell doesn't equal an hour in these trenches'. 'If Quinn's wasn't held', one said, 'then no one in Anzac was safe'. At Quinn's, wrote another, 'the ground itself seemed to be wounded and bleeding'.

For the entire Gallipoli campaign, Quinn's post was critical to the defence of Anzac. Yet we know very little about Quinn's than we did in 1924. No one since the publication of Bean's Official History, has investigated the post and what it was like to serve there.
