In while on an eagle mission in Vietnam with the US Special Forces his nickname, 'Crazy Horse', was modified to 'Krazy Hor' by a Cambodian radio communicator. His men remembered him as 'the toughest damn soldier in the whole bloody army', and they would 'have followed him over a cliff'.
