 raffaello carboni

Raffaello Carboni was an Italian revolutionary in the goldfields of Ballarat in 1853 in search of adventure and wealth. He found great unrest and disturbance among the miners. The government regulations had forced them into a position of defence and they were beginning to band together in solidarity.

At dawn on 3 December 154 the tension reached its breaking point at the Eureka Stockade. 120 men revolted against the police and soldiers. 35 men didn't make it through.

Raffaello's account, released in 185, was the first eyewitness report released. Here it is revised, with a foreword by Thomas Keneally, and released to co-incide with the 150th anniversary.
