DEATH OF THE LEAPING HORSEMEN

24. PANZER DIVISION IN STALINGRAD

 Jason D. Mark

Death of the Leaping Horsemen is the is the day-by-day account story of elite Panzer-Division 24 and its battles on the streets and outskirts of Stalingrad.

The story begins with the victorious march towards Stalingrad in August 1942 and follows as the victory turns into a battle quagmire with astronomical rates of attrition. After a couple of months of hard slog combat the Division had been reduced to a battlegroup consisting of a few panzers and a couple of hundred men.

Included in this account are official combat reports and entries from the Division's war diaries describing the award of Oakleaves and Knight's Cross. It also contains more than 200 photographs and 85 maps.
