D-Day Gliders

Les planeurs americains du jour J

Phillipe Esvelin

This book in both French and English language tells the story of the gliders that were used to great effect by the Americans during the D-Day invasions. Tells of their introduction, development and deployment, of how it was to fly them and of the men that flew in them. A very interesting aspect of the war.

The two main gliders used were the Airspeed Horsa AS 51 of British design and the American Weaver Aircraft Company (WACO) CG4A.
