The story of Thomas, Lord Cochrane is that of an outstanding man of daring and a real-life hero greater than anything in fiction and more extraordinary than that of Nelson himself.

Cochrane made his name battling Napoleon's Navy in a series of outstanding and heroic actions, often fighting his ship against seemingly overwhelming odds.

His life on land was equally dramatic as he battled against corruption in the Admiralty. He made many enemies and was later 'framed' in a Stock Exchange fraud and was imprisoned.

He later returned to the sea and helped liberate Chile and Brazil from colonial rule.
