 British Commonwealth Occupation Force

[WW2 - AUSTRALIANS IN JAPAN ]

 Larry Lacey

At the end of the Pacific War, many Australian troops joined the British Commonwealth Occupation Force, to take control in Japan and ensure that the surrender was actually enforced and there were no problems.

The soldiers who went there had a wide variety of experiences as they grappled with war-time hatreds and the reality of actually living with the enemy.

This is an interesting study of human nature and how intense enemies came to realisation that they had to work together.
