No.5 Operational Training Unit, Royal Australian Air Force, was formed at Forest Hill in NSW on December 26 1942 under the command of Squadron leader B.F. Rose DFC. The Unit was formed to train complete crews fro Beaufighters. And from November 1943 the Unit also was given the responsibility of training Mosquito aircrew.
