STRANGE SIGHTS AND STRANGE SITES

[JULY 2006]

  Over a series of years of travelling in any country you see  things that you just have to photograph for posterity. Below are some of those sights and sites and we invite you to send us your own pictures.

Left: Probably the biggest pandanas tree seen on the trail, with the man at the bottom dwarfed by the root structure. Right: A python caught by the carriers and still alive here. They did not kill it because they had no banana leaves to cook it in! (1990s)

  This push-you-pull-me car was the work of a car repairer in Port Moresby, who shocked many a fellow driver when they saw this car facing them in the traffic. (1980s)

  A man looks insignificant in the choko gardens near Isurava, where the vine has escaped a village garden and taken over. The fruit is not eaten by the locals but the green tips are a widely used green vegetable.  (1990s)
