       Doves Over the Pacific is a history of the 1990-94 'crisis' on Bougainville, in the North Solomans Province of Papua New Guinea in two regional peace support deployments - Operation Big Talk and Operation Lagoon.

      Cultural divides had to be bridged, resulting in the strengthening of old friendships and the development of new understandings between the men and women of these disparate cultures who were, for these operations, united in task by a common interest: the pursuit of peace.
