In 1965, Vin joined the Army Apprentice School aged seventeen and his first posting was as a plumber with 1 Field Squadron, serving in South Vietnam.
He describes the hair-raising experience of trying to clear the Barrier Minefield and the folly of some the 'ideas' suggested for the task.
With the many dangers of being at war, Engineers had to do their work and also watch their own safety as well. Each chapter is a story within itself – a journey of mishaps, adventure and tension.
After a twelve-year career in the Australian Army, Vin became a teacher and became Campus Director of a Melbourne college. |
